Caribbean-EU Study Visit on Port Sustainability and Decarbonization
A high-level delegation of 11 Caribbean port authorities, united through their regional association, connects with European ports, policymakers, infrastructure providers, and investors at the Caribbean Pavilion and the MedPorts × DTF Ports Hub during DTF 2026, 13–14 October, Valletta Gateway Terminal.

Global Gateway in the Caribbean.
In the framework of the Global Gateway strategy, the European Union is working with the Caribbean region to strengthen maritime connectivity, develop sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure, support the energy transition and advance digitalisation. Facilitating the participation of Caribbean ports in the DTF Conference is part of this initiative, focusing on exchanging know-how and opportunities in OPS development.
The visit is organised with FIAP (Fundación para la Internacionalización de las Administraciones Públicas), implementing partner of the European Union, and the Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC).

The global energy transition agenda creates additional challenges for ports, particularly for small ports. But it also creates opportunities. This reality makes collaboration among ports essential, and more so among small island ports. The participation of Caribbean Ports at DTF 2026 in Malta represents an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Caribbean and European ports and other industry stakeholders around port electrification, shore power and integrated energy systems, while exploring solutions that could support the sustainable transformation of our ports in the Caribbean.
Meet the Caribbean delegation.
Ports, technology providers and investors can meet the delegation during DTF 2026 at the Caribbean Pavilion.
